Food is Chef Michael Herrud’s life. At the age of seven, he recalls helping his mother cook and was inspired by her attention to detail. Over the years, he has been fortunate to have had skilled culinarians show him their expertise. Today, he is comfortable exploring any foreign or domestic cuisine. Through this span of time, he has discovered one universal truth… a “foodie” can live in upstate New York or a farm in Tennessee. Good food is a must for everyone.
Born and raised in Nashville Tennessee, Chef Michael Herrud has been around food his whole life. Chef Michael has always had a passion for food. While growing up in Nashville, he spent quite a bit of time with his mother in the kitchen. In fact, there are many family pictures of him as a child cooking with his mother.
In 1988, Chef Michael received a full scholarship to the Opryland Culinary Institute. This was a classical European Apprenticeship, which he trained under 14 European chefs and 31 American chefs. He completed his apprenticeship in 1991 with multiple diplomas.
After culinary school, Chef Michael went to St. Louis to further his garde manger experience. In 1993, he returned to Nashville. Since then, he has worked as an executive chef, personal chef, and director of catering at locations in the Southeast. He currently is a personal chef serving the middle Tennessee area.
